2d10 vs. 1d20

My main complaint (other than a general lack of innovation) about d20 System games is that a 20-sided die is so random. It makes it very difficult to depend on the competence of a giving play-group because they are just as likely to roll poorly as they are to roll well.

Now, I’m not saying that rolling 2d10 is all that significant an improvement, but it does at least provide a distribution that is more weighted toward the center (providing us with a reasonable likelihood that players are more likely to roll between, say, 6 and 15).

All of this leads us, of course, to Monster. I’m definitely going to be using 2d10 rather than the standard 1d20 for resolution. I did, briefly, consider using 3d6, 4d6-4, or even Fudge dice but, aesthetically, fewer dice feels more elegant.
