Reverse Engineering Challenge

There is a contest going on over at the Story Games forum in which participants design a character sheet for an RPG and then someone else designs an RPG based on the character sheet.

Amusing! 🙂

I’m always looking for an excuse to procrastinate and flex my desktop-publishing skills at the same time, so here’s my entry:

Oh, and here’s a link to the thread on Story Games: Reverse Engineering Challenge

Interesting. I like how there’s no space for names or any kind of physical description. I’m also perplexed by the lack of labels on the spaces between the primary categories (physical etc.).
Are we also really supposed to be seeing physical and metaphysical as opposites? And social and mental? Interesting dichotomies you’re setting up.

Ah, but that is the beauty of this contest, Dan!

I design a character sheet without regard for the final RPG design and then someone else designs the game around it. They get to decide if those are dichotomies or just an interesting layout decision.

Ideally, I just wanted to provide an interesting graphic design with a minimum of preconceptions on my part. Now I get to hope that something interesting is made of it.

I meant to add that I think this violates your policy of not thinking about game design, by the way. So it lasted all of two days or so? 🙂

Actually, this wasn’t Theory, Dan, it was Craft.

I wasn’t wasting my time thinking about the Process of RPGs, I was creating something. 😀
