Life: The Update

Well, another month has gone by without a post to my blog. Anyone surprised?

In the last month:

  • Britt and I spent several days travelling to see family during the holidays. Overall, it was good, if somewhat exhausting, time.
  • I spent time getting my Amber PBI (play-by-internet) game officially rolling, though, of course, it is a slow roll.
  • Spent time trying to get Cracked Mirror sales venues in order. One of the new venues that I was exploring, YourGamesNow, turned me down (they don’t like my product covers) and another, e23, has simply stopped replying to my email inquiries (extra weird considering we’d already signed a contract). Oh, and I set up my own eCommerce site: the Cracked Mirror Store.
  • Worked on organizing new and old Cracked Mirror projects, which essentially breaks down to getting out some of the projects that have been in the pre-production stage for a while (The Shak’T Invasion, Super City One, Acheron City, Powers Monthly), hammering out the projects that I’ve been working on for what seems like forever (Monsters & Mayhem 2E), organizing new projects (the Chameleon System, FutureShock), and looking for even more new projects.
  • I’ve also been trying to keep in touch with my current freelancers while trying to find new ones.
  • And the last week or so has involved my day job at the bookstore and Beloit College rush, either the lead up to it, or rush itself.  (Rush is what they call the week during which Beloit students register for classes in the new semester and buy their textbooks. It has nothing to do with fraternities or sororities.)

Still left to do:

  • Find playtesters.
  • Find a local gaming group (less of a priority with the PBI game going, but still . . .)
  • Get a real-estate agent going on finding us a house.
  • Plan for Origins
  • Plan for Gencon
  • Visit friends (and just generally be more social) more.
  • Try to keep the blog updated 🙂

See you soon!

Hey J, tried your e-mail address to talk to you about this years GenCon and it bounced. Let me know if you are interested.

Do I need to be buying 2E Mutants and Masterminds before I buy 2E Monsters and Mayhem, I presume? And what sort of updates are there? 🙂 Does it really warrant such a big investment on my part?

Have I mentioned that I really rather miss those Tuesday night games, especially the ones with the scary frickin’ spiders?

Monsters & Mayhem 2E will be optimized for Mutants & Masterminds 2E, yes. As to whether it is worth the price of admission . . .

How much do you think you’ll use the game? Seriously, that is at the top of my criteria for buying a game these days.

Also, keep in mind that I will need readers/editors and playtesters for the manuscript as the project progresses and I always provide a comp copy to folks that help the process. 🙂

I appreciate that you miss the Tuesday games; I thought they were fun too. Unfortunately, I now live in another state. 😉

Seriously, though, if you’ve got the time you should go to Games Club on Friday night and hook up with the roleplayers. From the traffic on the list, there are a lot of RPGs going on at Cornell.
