On being Interesting

I frequently think about blogging and, just as frequently, fail to do so because I don’t feel that I have anything Interesting (yes, capital ‘I’) to share. Today, I almost didn’t post but then I thought, “Why is is so important that I post something Interesting?”

So, today I ask anyone reading to ask yourself: Do you post on your blog to be Interesting?

Here’s my answer:

I started this blog as a writing exercise, a way for me to write on a regular basis that might motivate to write more for my other projects. To that end, I think that it worked. I do write more (though, honestly, it may not be daily).

Quite frankly, I don’t know when being Interesting became a factor. Whatever the reason, I’m going to give that notion up. I’m going to write and if others find that interesting (or Interesting) then so be it but that’s not why I’m going to write.

i blog when i have something to show off… be it tatting, knitting, or kitties!… or when i need to write down something so as not to forget it later…

i can only hope that people who are interested read it, and those who aren’t, don’t.

I guess I usually try to post things that are either of general intellectual interest, or else things about me that people who know me might find interesting. So, yeah, I guess I try to be interesting, although I don’t think I’ve ever decided not to post something because I didn’t think it would be interesting enough. (I’ve certainly had to restrain myself from flat-out whining—which crosses the line from “uninteresting” to “annoying.”) And I’m sure I’m inadvertently uninteresting from time to time. 🙂

That said, I think you shouldn’t feel like you mustn’t post uninteresting stuff. If you post something boring, I’ll just ignore it and wait for you to post something I care about. No big. It’s not like you are Big-Time Professional Blogger Man who depends on advertising revenue or somethin’.
