Perfect Fantasy: a d20 hack

I’ve been working on this project for a few weeks now. It’s based on the 2006 release of Levi Kornelsen’s Perfect 20, which is a streamlined d20 hack in its own right. My design goals with Perfect Fantasy were simple and, I think, straightforward:

  1. Quick character creation: no more than six choices from beginning to end in the basic rules.
  2. Minimal rules: I wanted the rules to have a small footprint. No more than 50 pages, ideally. Just enough to create a framework for the game, not enough to get in the way. I’m probably going to go over that limit but I’m still hoping to keep it under 75.
  3. Simple Advancement: Rather than XP, Perfect Fantasy leaves it up to the GM to decide when character’s get an Advancement. After four Advancements a character gains a level.

So, I think I’m heading in the right direction. If you want to check out the game so far, you can download a copy here.
