Swords Against Death

I just finished the second book in the Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser set and this time around I’m much happier. Swords Against Death is a definite improvement over Swords and Deviltry, though S&D was still a good.

Overall, I’m enjoying the weirdness of these stories which, honestly, is really the draw for me. Well, that and the idea that they are one of the sources claimed to have inspired D&D.

Frankly, though, I can’t imagine ever running a roleplaying game with a story like one of these. They are just way too . . . railroad-y.

The weirdness, on the other hand, that I’m totally going to use.
