Happy New Year

It’s that time of year.

Soon, we will have a new president. Soon, we will know whether we will keep the new year resolutions that we might have made. Soon we will probably regret all of the good/fattening/sugar-filled food that we ate during the holidays.

Now, though, let’s talk about what has gone before:

Last year I didn’t accomplish a whole hell of a lot but, honestly, I didn’t set out to so, really, I’m okay with that. I am pretty happy with some of the things that I accomplished though:

  • Spent more time with Britt.
  • Published 10 issues of my free, monthly newsletter filled with reviews and gaming goodness through my internet publishing imprint, Cracked Mirror Publishing.
  • Went to Origins and hung out with my friends for four days of excellent gaming.
  • Gamed more, in general, and found more folks to game with in the area. [It’s just a matter of time before we actually are able to game on a regular and consistent basis. Or so I keep saying to myself. :)]
  • Traveled to Ithaca to visit all of our friends that are still there.
  • Continued to develop my layout skills.
  • Read many good books.
  • Continued to develop my pizza making skills.
  • Came to the realization that I could never possibly use all of the gaming stuff that I own during the course of one lifetime and, therefore, I probably don’t actually need more. [I mean, sure, I could use all of it if I gamed everyday for the rest of my life but that ain’t going to happen.]
  • Published two new products through Cracked Mirror and stayed in the black.

Over all, an unambitious but good year. For 2009, I’m setting myself some modest goals:

  • Spend more time with Britt.
  • Continue publishing my free, monthly newsletter but maybe do so bi-monthly or at least a little less frequently.
  • Get back to work on the Second Edition of Monsters & Mayhem, Cracked Mirror Publishing’s flagship product (which in retrospect is embarrassingly sub-par in production values and design).
  • Take a class or two at Beloit College (one of the perks of being a faculty spouse).
  • Spend less time surfing the internet aimlessly.
  • Play games and stress less about how I’m not playing more games.
  • Finish the first draft of the roleplaying game that I’m designing for my friend Paula.
  • Go to Origins.
  • Go to Ambercon NW
  • Read good books.
  • Blog more.
