Car Shopping

After having our eyes examined today in Janesville, Britt and I decided to stop at the local Toyota dealership and do some pricing. If you’ve paid any attention to my Facebook or Twitter accounts for the last six months, you’ve probably noticed a growing trend of repairs for our current car. Yeah, we need a new one.

We’re looking at getting a Prius. I’ve wanted one for a while now but we really haven’t had a good reason to get one. Our car was paid off, still in good working condition, and not having car payments is a nice thing. Then, of course, that second criteria began to fail.

When we visited Ithaca two years ago, we leased a Prius for the week. I didn’t have to fill up the gas tank until the day I took it back to the dealer. Seven days of driving around cost me $12 in gas. And it isn’t like we spent that whole time walking around. No, after I would drop Britt off on the Cornell campus for her meetings, I took the Prius out on the highway most mornings and tooled around just to enjoy it. I like that kind of gas mileage.

So, I’m looking forward to getting a Prius. As Britt pointed out a few months ago: I’m not a car guy but apparently I am an electric car guy.

You can stalk each other around the town with it, too.

That is very impressive, Dani. I wish that we could say the same.

welll… in the interest of full disclosure, i should say that i’ve paid for plenty of gas for my car, but i haven’t had to operate a pump in all that time. since my parents are using it more than i am, they get to do it all!
